Home Of The Famous Rib Tips

Our Story
Lamont Waits is a native Chicagoan who moved to Houston 23 years ago. Growing up he watched his grandfather fire up the pit, which led to his love and passion for BBQ. After settling in Houston, he began to cater parties and events of various sizes. He perfected his craft of cooking excellent brisket, homemade sausage, ribs, chicken, and his staple -- Chicago style rib tips. Then came his world famous, homemade, sweet sauce in hot and mild. After all the years of practice, Lamont knew the sky was the limit and that he was on to something amazing.
In 2006, Lamont purchased his first pull-behind pit and started selling at clubs and retailers on the Southwest side of Houston. The success lead to the purchase of a fully enclosed trailer which was permanently located at 9244 W. Bellfort. And thus, Boogie’s Chicago Style BBQ was born. After only two years, the business outgrew the enclosed trailer. With a 5-year lease in hand, Lamont gave the business a home at 8035 W. Airport. During the seven year stay on West Airport, Boogie's was honored by articles in the Houston Press, and Guns & Ammo of Texas, recognized by radio station Praise 92.1 as Houston's Top BBQ Spot, and honored by Houston Police Department for continued support in the community. Boogie’s Chicago Style BBQ had indeed become a staple in the community.
After great success serving the southwest Houston area, Lamont and his wife Nicoya decided to open their 2nd location at 1767 Texas Parkway, Missouri City. Within the first year, of opening the second location, it was highlighted on CW39 News Fix. In 2017, Lamont was a contestant on the Food Network hit show, "Guy's Grocery Games".
With a growing demand to serve customers beyond Missouri City and southwest Houston, Boogie's Chicago Style BBQ stepped into the food truck business with the addition of the Boogie Mobile, which hit the streets in 2018. Since then, he has upgraded and added a newer model for even better which is available for private events, festivals, and corporate catering of all sizes and budgets.
Lamont and Nicoya believe that to whom much is given much is required. Boogie's Chicago Style BBQ continues to participate in numerous charitable efforts in both the Houston metro and Chicagoland areas. Lamont is also a founding member of Make a Person Smile (MAPS) Houston [501(c)(3)] which serves members of the homeless community, youth, and families.
Serving real pit BBQ, homemade burgers, and signature wings Boogie's Chicago Style BBQ has become one of Houston's premier take out restaurants. Their motto is true, “It’s What Your Belly Wants!”
